The West Bottoms and surrounding areas provide a great view of the railway stockyards, an industry that once put Kansas City at the crossroads of America. I find it fascinating that a lot of the tracks that are still used have been used for decades. These bridges and train track were once the life blood of industry in Kansas City and now metaphorically speaking relegated to the attic.
I believe the bridge belongs to the Santa Fe Southern Railway. It is located in Armourdale. If you go to visit, you can see an old brick road exposed under the asphalt around the bridge, showing the longevity of the area and the roadways.
