Hypermart

Hypermart was a concept by Wal-Mart in the late 1980’s to combine grocery stores with Wal-Marts in massive all in one type stores. The store was tested in a few markets across the country, one being Kansas City. The location at Benjamin Ranch Plaza was the largest of all the Hypermart stores at over 250,000 sq ft; it featured restraunts, a hair salon, arcade and much more.

The concept probably proved to be a success, it’s results can be seen implemented in most modern Wal-Mart’s which feature groceries, restaurants and more.

The building was torn down in early 2014 to make way for the redevelopment of the area.
