Liberty Memorial was built in 1926 as a memorial to remember the soldiers who died during World War I. It took five years to build, and with its egypian revival architecture and wide usage of limestrone is truly a marvel to take in.
The memorial was quite a massive project and a group of individuals came together to form an association to help progress the project along. Some of the members of this group were notable in the development of Kansas City and include:
- Robert A. Long
- James Madison Kemper
- Jesse Clyde Nichols
- William Volker
- George Kessler
